It's Raining

Wow, it was raining yesterday. It was really surprising, as in past 18 months of my stay in Arizona, it rained for the first time. We (Hubby & I) , enjoyed the rain yesterday, we went to post office and grocery store in the rain. It was after one year we were seeing the rain. Last year in July, when we were in India we saw it.

So, excited by the rain, I took out my new umbrella to flaunt it.

It was really good, walking in rain and smiling at each other. The good thing was that it was not raining very heavily.

I love the rain, but now living here, it has become more precious since it is so rare.

Well, rain meant no driving practice for me, it's okay, once in a while I can allow this.

I love you rain, come again soon !!!!!!

Do you want a Ride ?

Do you know what I am doing nowadays, it's exciting, it's scary and unbelievable for me. I am DRIVING nowadays, yes I am learning to drive and I am almost there. I mean now I can drive.

You must be thinking what's so great about it. Everybody knows how to drive and I am a bit old learning at this stage of life. Well, you are right, but If you see the things from my perspective then it's a big deal. I am from India , where father's are too protective for their daughters, so my father too, never let me try to learn driving, he thought it was too dangerous for girls and he didn't want me to get hurt.

I really am thankful to my husband, who is helping me to learn driving and letting me drive, sometimes I get mad at him and sometimes he gets mad at me, then later everything is okay. The result is that I am able to drive , yet with a lot more to learn and practice to become a skilled driver.

Thanks to you all too for listening to my boring life details.

Summer 2009

It's time for the Summer Break,so my hubby and I are busy making plans to go somewhere for vacations. We are excited to go to India but the only problem is costly air tickets $2000 per person, and we have to think a lot before spending so much money, we keep wishing that prices will go down, but no hopes there.

We miss our families and they too keep asking us as to when we are going to come, but we have no answers.

So, if we are not going to India where should we go? I want to go to Florida-- the disney world adventures. Will you believe that living just 65 miles away from Grand Canyon, we have not been there once, while we have been to Californis, Las Vegas which are so far away. Procrastination, yeah we know it is so near that we can go anytime, the result that anytime has not come even after 14 months.

If you can give me so great ideas for vacation, I will really appreciate.

take care folks.

Beautiful Life

Life is beautiful and colored, I can say this nowadays as my front yard is full of beautiful roses. Yellow, red , pink, and orange roses. My hubby and I keep admiring them daily.

It's our luck that the person who lived in our house before us, planted these roses and we are able to have these roses with little effort. Little effort, Ya we are also doing our part by watering these plants daily.

Aren't these roses beautiful. Don't they bring you close to God, there is a song in Hindi that 'if the creation of God is so beautiful then how beautiful he would be'.

Whenever we see these roses, we forget our problems and just see them and admire them and can't stop from smiling at each other .

A great day for me

Hi Friends,

Today is a great day for my husband and me. We crossed one big hurdle lying in our path to happiness and success. Well, I definitely want to take some credit for it but it is entirely the hard work of my husband.

Well, it's a long and boring story, so I will spare you from it, but I will tell you that we faced a lot of humiliation because of it, some people were really mean to us. They always pointed us to the fact that we are not good enough to do it. Now everything is over with a happy outcome. Let's see what's their next objection.Sometimes I think that it is just because we are new to this place, different from them in many ways (culture, customs, religion, language etc.)

I want to say one thing that try and try until you succeed.

Just quitting something is not the right way.

I am proud of you hubby dear.

I asked him to take me out for dinner, but now I think that I should make something good for him at home.

I will be back soon.

See you all!

British English Vs American English

Hi Friends,

How are you all?
It's been really a long time since I wrote any post.

If I say I was very busy, it won't be 100% true. Somehow, I just wasn't able to write anything.

Today I will tell you about my experiences with English.

When I was in India, I knew that there is a difference between British English (which Indians follow) and the American English, but I was not aware that American English is a totally different language. One of my friends here, says that it is a language known as American, and if you are in America you should speak American not English.

There is a lot of difference in pronunciation and spellings.

The recent spelling difference I came to know was:

Jewellery (British English) and Jewelry (American).
I wrote the British Spelling in my assignment and lost some marks because of that.

I knew about some common spellings like:
color and colour.

If you say dustbin, no one has an idea what you are saying, instead you must say garbage can, or trash can.

It's still a new world for me.

My husband and I are learning.

Will keep you posted.
bye.

Life is not Easy

Hi Friends !,

How are you?
I am okay.

It's been a long time since I wrote any post.
All this time ,I was just trying to adjust to my new environment.

Living in a new country is very difficult.
There are lots of changes you need to make, not only in your living style, but also in your personality.

Six months have passed since my arrival here, still I have not got a job.

Actually I am on a visa which requires me to apply for work permit, if I wish to work.I have got the work permit now,but it took me four months to get it.

Then ,Since I am from India, I need to have my credentials evaluation, and my work experience evaluation.

All this costs a lot of money, and time too.

Still my paper work is not finished, and I am sitting at home ,
seeing my knowledge and skills being wasted.

Well, I hope all this passes soon, and I am able to live my life in the way I want to live.

Okay,

take care folks,
bye

life is so different now

Hi Friends,

How are you?
I hope good,,pretty good.

Life has changed so much now.
We live in an area called Tuba city ,in Arizona.
It is quite peaceful here.

Here the soil is red.
Initially i thought it would be difficult to grow any thing here.
But I have seen people growing all kinds of things,,apples,apricots,etc...

Before I forget, I want to tell you there are so many fruits and vegetables ,which are not found in India.

Like apricot ( i am loving it),,grapefruit,tomatillos,etc.

I love to see the different things found here. so whenever I go to a store I spend a lot of time there getting acquainted to things found here..(my husband gets bored often).

We call the same vegetables by different names here as compared to India.
Like we call brinjal as "egg plant",chillies as peppers,etc...

Vegetables are very costly here...
But atleast we get all vegetables here.

I want to tell you so many things but I dont want to tell all at once.

so keep waiting fo rmy next post..

have a great day,

bye!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Friends,

I am writing a post after nearly three months.

Life has changed a lot in these three months...
I have got married and have moved to America.

To whom I got married ?

It was a painful separation..

Then I got my visa after nearly two months and I landed in America on 17th of March..

Presently, I am in Arizona , 80 miles far from flagstaff..

Life has changed a lot.

First of all ,now I am a married woman.
secondly, now I am in a different place..

It's Christmas Time

Hi friends,

Few days are left for Christmas..

Christmas is one festival which I like very much..even though it is not our festival ( I mean By religion)..

Since my childhood, I have a great liking for this festival.

I used to make christmas cards and host christmas party for my siblings (though in a small scale).

Like every child I loved Santa Claus ...
I wished that Santa could come and give me some gift..

But it was not so,
So, Instead of waiting for Santa,,I used to buy gifts (the ones i could afford) for my siblings and put them under their pillow,,on 24th night,,,so that when they wake up,they find their gifts on christmas day..

I just liked doing this,,

Not anymore,,as all siblings are away from me...

But I have thought that when I will have kids,,I will be thier santa on christmas..

So,finally Christmas is just round the corner..
And I am going to receive a good gift on this day..

Any Guesses,,
My Friend Sweetu is coming back on Christmas Day,,
He will be in India on 25th December..
Isn't it great,.

Happy Christmas to you dear friends!!!
May you too receive a great gift on this day..

take care,
bye
